The subscription plan lasts for a minimum of 12 months and is month to month after that. Cancel anytime after the 12 months have passed. If you cancel, you don’t keep the site (otherwise everyone would just do that and we'd be out of business!)
You just have to sign a new 12 month contract.
If you cancel before the 12 months, you owe the full cost of what the site would normally cost ($4200) minus whatever you already paid. We prioritize long term relationships with our clients and we want clients to share the same philosophy.
Every invoice comes with a 7-day grace period to be paid. If an invoice is not paid within 7 days, there will be a $25 late fee applied. If you're on a subscription, and there are multiple monthly invoices that are overdue for months and late for months, we can cancel the contract and the client will be responsible for paying the full price of the site. We are generally very flexible and understanding of certain situations and oftentimes offer assistance and help. But if there is no communication or replies to our messages, we have to take certain precautions to make sure we are paid for our time and effort in making the site and not being taken advantage of.
Email invoices will be sent via Square, which has a link to a secure page for adding payment info. Subscriptions are paid with a credit card or debit card and all major credit cards are accepted. Lump sum projects are paid with ACH bank transfer to minimize processing fees. CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!
When you sign a contract, either lump sum or subscription, if we cannot design something you are 100% happy with and no longer want to move forward, then we will refund whatever you paid to get started. If we do end up moving forward with building the site, there are no refunds after that point.
The $175 monthly package covers everything from custom website design and development to hosting, SSL security, and up to 5 pages of content. It also includes unlimited updates, daily backups, and 24/7 support, all managed by us.
Yes, subscriptions are indefinite with a 12-month minimum. You pay monthly after that initial period. Here's the honest economics: A lump sum site costs $4,200 upfront. With the subscription at $175/month, it takes us 2-3 years to earn the same amount. We offer both options because the subscription model lets small businesses access premium web design without the large upfront cost. Ideally, clients stay 5+ years because by then, your website is generating far more than $175/month in value through leads and conversions. The ongoing support, updates, and maintenance become a profitable investment rather than an expense. We offer lump sum if you prefer to own it outright, or subscription if you want ongoing partnership and support. Both are viable - it depends on your cash flow and how hands-on you want to be with your site.
No buyout option is available on subscriptions. The $175/month model works because it provides us stable, recurring income - which means we can focus on supporting existing clients rather than constantly selling to pay bills. Since it takes 2-3 years to earn what we'd make upfront, the subscription only makes financial sense with long-term clients (5+ years). This stability is what allows us to be more hands-on and responsive than traditional agencies. Want to own it outright? The lump sum option starts at $4,200. The subscription is for ongoing partnership and support.
Yes! We offer $50 a month subscription add-on for unlimited edits and support. These are done with a 12 month minimum commitment as well. There's no turning it on and off every other month. Once you end it, if you want to reinstate, you’ll need to sign another 12 month commitment.
The biggest difference is long term versus short term costs. On subscription, you’ll be paying more over time but it will be in small manageable and affordable monthly payments. The lump sum just gets it all out the way in the beginning and you save more money over the long run because you also paid for the design and development up front. So when deciding which package to choose, it all depends on cash flow and long term versus short term goals. If you don’t want to spend that much up front and value the service that comes with it, then the monthly is your best option. If you don't want or need the monthly service packages, you can get it all out the way up front and save money over the long term.
Most websites are completed in 2-4 weeks. The biggest variable is how quickly you can provide content, images, and feedback. If you have everything ready, we move fast. If you need time to gather materials, that extends the timeline. We'll give you a specific delivery date once we start and we see our current workload.
No. You keep your domain and assets (images, content, logos), but the site files are removed. The subscription is for access and support, not ownership. For outright ownership, please choose the lump sum option.
Yes. We don’t take hostages. Even if we bought the domain for you, when you cancel your subscription, we transfer the domain to you.
Nope! Everything is hand-coded. No WordPress, no Wix, no Squarespace, no drag-and-drop builders. Custom code is what makes these sites fast, secure, and unique. It takes more time upfront, but the performance difference is dramatic - and that's what gets you results.
Custom-coded sites are faster, more secure, and easier to maintain than WordPress. They load in under 1 second compared to 3-5 seconds for most WordPress sites. Security-wise, there's no database, admin panel, or login page - eliminating the vulnerabilities that commonly get WordPress sites compromised. You won't need constant security updates or worry about plugin conflicts. Maintenance is minimal since there are no plugins to update, no theme compatibility issues, and no bloated scripts slowing down your site. When you need changes, we edit the code directly instead of fighting with page builder limitations. Long-term costs are lower too - no premium plugins, theme licenses, or security software subscriptions eating into your budget every month.
You send an email to info@handcodedwebdesigns.com. We handle all requests within 24-48 hours during normal business hours.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Once a contract is signed, we'll send you a quick questionnaire to learn more about your business and what you offer. From there, we'll craft the content for your site, design the layout, check in with you for approval, and then bring it all to life. The whole process usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks, start to finish!
Complete Questionnaire
We'll start with a brief call and questionnaire to understand your business, goals, and audience. Then we'll build a site with clear strategy behind every decision.
Design Approval
Screen share meeting to discuss design draft. Any changes you'd like are done in this step.
Development
Once design is approved, we can now start coding the site and getting everything set up. Before going live, you'll get a demo link to view.
Launch & Ongoing Support
Before your site goes live, everything is tested across devices and browsers. Once it's running exactly as it should, we handle the launch and go live.
